Educational Jazz Concerts for Students

Students experience the history and excitement of jazz through interactive performances. These programs introduce young audiences to American jazz, Latin jazz, blues traditions, and the art of music appreciation.

Jazz as
American Art

Students discover why jazz is considered one of America’s original fine arts. Through engaging live performances, the program explores the roots of jazz, blues, and Latin jazz while helping students understand the cultural history behind the music.

the Language of Music

Students are introduced to important musical concepts such as melody, rhythm, and syncopation. They also learn about instruments commonly used in jazz including trumpet, guitar, drums, and Hammond organ, building vocabulary that helps them listen to music more thoughtfully.

Live Jazz Performance

A live jazz concert allows students to see and hear how musicians communicate through improvisation and rhythm. The performance demonstrates how different styles of jazz come together to create an exciting musical experience.

Creative Student Expression

After the concert, students reflect on the music through creative activities such as drawing an instrument they saw or writing about how the music made them feel. These activities help students connect personally with the art of jazz and develop their ability to express ideas about music.

Music Education

Music education comes alive when students experience it through live performance. By hearing jazz played by professional musicians, students discover the excitement of rhythm, melody, and improvisation while gaining a deeper appreciation for one of America’s greatest musical art forms.
